 wisdom-ark is looking for a Software Engineer Intern to join our Data Engineering & Infrastructure team. In this role, you’ll help design and build the backend systems that power our data collection, transformation, and delivery pipelines. Your work will directly support internal analytics, product development, and strategic decision-making by ensuring access to high-quality, well-structured data from diverse sources across the web.

This is a great opportunity for someone passionate about data, web crawling, and automation to gain real-world experience with distributed systems, API integration, and scalable data workflows.

• Build and maintain web crawlers and scraping tools to gather data from structured and unstructured sources.
• Hands on software development experience with exposure to Financial and other domain knowledge. 
• Design, implement, and monitor data pipelines for ingestion, transformation, and storage.
• Write modular, reusable, and testable code for backend data workflows.
• Integrate third-party APIs to collect and enrich data.
• Work with databases (SQL and NoSQL) to organize and manage crawled data efficiently.
• Collaborate with engineers and product stakeholders to understand data needs and iterate on technical solutions.
• Monitor crawler performance and handle edge cases like anti-bot protections, rate limits, and data quality issues.

• How to work with real-world financial data and manage its complexity. 
• Best practices for building reliable web scrapers and data collection workflows.
• How to work with public financial APIs and regulatory data sources.
• Data validation, deduplication, and enrichment techniques for market data.
• Engineering workflows for scheduled and event-driven data processing.

• Currently pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Financial Engineering, or a related field.
• Strong Python skills; familiarity with libraries like requests, pandas, BeautifulSoup, or Playwright.
• Basic understanding of financial concepts (e.g., P/E ratio, market cap, earnings, SEC filings).
• Experience with SQL and database schema design.
• Detail-oriented, with a strong sense of code quality and data integrity.
• Self-motivated, curious, and eager to take ownership of end-to-end systems.
